oliver charles klayton if there could have been an orchestra playing when oliver and his twin were born, his parents would have hired one; however, the only sounds heard in the hospital that night were the screams of larissa klayton giving birth. oliver was born to miles klayton, heir to one of the largest oil companies in the united states, and larissa hargrave, daughter of a prolific humanitarian and his fashion designer wife. with the klayton bloodline blessed with not one, but two male heirs that would inherit the massive multi-million dollar oil company, miles couldn't have asked for a better blessing. thus it would be safe to assume that oliver was born with a silver spoon in his mouth: always doted on by his parents, always cleaned up after by the maids and butlers, always driven in the best cars, always attending the best schools that money could buy. oliver wouldn't have had it any other way, since he was quite comfortable in the lap of luxury.
ever since settling in new york city, the klaytons have always been in the throes of high society. they were european immigrants who made their money at the turn of the century, and ever since then their patriarchs have been relegated to long business meetings, expensive dinners, or power lunches with other influential CEOs. miles, the first son of three, was no exception. he was a busy man always embroiled in some meeting in his manhattan office, while larissa had quickly become somewhat of a social maven among the wives of her husband's rich friends. her cocktail hours and brunches — held at the klayton household no less — were known for its high-brow attendance list, they were only attended by the cream of the crop. oliver was left with little to no "family" time, which in turn affected his social behavior. as the son of an oil magnate, oliver upheld the tradition of keeping his circle close and loyal, mostly to avoid hurting himself when they betrayed him.
in school, he was not one for friendship although his circle of friends was decidedly tight-knit. his tastes in potential friends were narrow and those that didn't fall into his good graces were often shunned inexplicably. although he's usually cold and distant to the people outside his little circle, he's nice enough when you catch him in a good mood, which is more often than not. oliver has a bit of a superiority complex and thinks everyone is below him on the social ladder. he does make a few exceptions every so often, but all of them have basically turned on him so he's weary to trust anyone outside of the "inner circle". call it what you will, he just thinks it's better to weed out enemies before they get too close.→ speaks english, french, and a smattering of italian. he learned french only because of his au pair that his parents hired while growing up. he is taking spanish at helsham to help him in his italian lessons (since if you know french and spanish, italian comes naturally).
→ oliver does have a car; however, he usually gets driven to school in his father's limousine. he uses his car after school and on weekends.
→ his home life wasn't horrible by any stretch of the imagination, it was just very quiet. by the time he was in middle school, oliver spent most nights at home with a nanny. dinners were usually cooked by the nannies as well. holidays, regardless of how busy his parents were, were always spent with his mother and father.
→ his gpa has fluctuated between a 3.3-3.5 since beginning at helsham, mostly because he doesn't care for studying enough. he feels as though his parents will just buy him his invitation into the school of his choice. oliver gets passable grades — mostly B's and the odd A — even when he doesn't apply himself, but if he actually studied there's no doubt his gpa would be much higher.
